Tribal Textiles of Chhattisgarh
Traditional way of weaving on manual looms is followed at Bastar having motifs of birds, lions bows, animals, arrows, huts, peacocks, pitchers, temples and tribal flowers. These fabrics are worn by the tribals on the auspicious of festivals, marriages and dances.
The textiles here are woven in heavy cotton. Keeping the public demand saris are now also being woven in finer counts as well as combination weaving of cotton and tussar.
