Talwar or Sword Dance of Gujarat

This dance has given a special identification to the tribals of Dahod region of Panchmahal. The costume of the dance includes white turban, rest of the part is covered by a black kurta or a long shirt and on face they wear a mask. The dancers carry swords in their hand and dance in a kind of group bending forward and moving back and in this way they complete acircle. Face mask is the main attraction of this dance and usage of white and black in their costumes has a special significance. These dancers are invited to houses to perform on special occasion.
