Good quality lime stone is available in Kangra, Bilaspur, Mandi and Kulu and craftspersons make practical objects. Bataihra is the community which mainly works on stone carving. Domestic products like flour-mill stones angithis, kundis, stoves,pestle and mortar sets, dauri danda, mill stones, and chakkis are still made all over the state. The traditional centres for carving are Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Chamba, and Kulu.
Himachal has a fair variety of stone used for carving and construction. Sand stone is used for carving relief structural panels for temples.
