Samdar Dance of Gujarat

This is a type of fishermen dance. In this dance they show the aakhate(specify aakhate) of sea life. The women and men of fishermen community stand in a queue. They all carry weapon in their hands. These dancers have tied their hands but they remain in touch.The dance is started with the song. They try to show as if they took a dip in the sea to trace the fish. They take the side for their fishing and crate a scene of spreading the net. While dancing they jump on their feet one by one and feel very excited seeing that they have caught fish in their nets and while pulling the net they convey thanks giving to their deity.

The people of Rajasthan living on the Gujarat border are quite close to each other not only distance wise but also have few things common in culture and their folk dances and songs. This can be seen in each others folk culture.
