Naija Dance of Rajasthan

It is a sports dance. This is mostly seen in Dangarpur –Kherawada tribals .This is performed exactly after the third day of holi. For this a pole is digged in an open ground. Coconut is placed on top of the pole and female folks stand around the pole. These females hold hunters and sticks in their hands. Near by male group stands. These males turn by turn make attempts to take away the coconut while they jump over the pole. The alert ladies with their weapons don’t grant them the opportunity to these men. In this whole excitement they start dancing.

At many places if the tribals are not able to manage the pole then they tie the valandi(specify), coconut is replaced by jaggery or sometimes even with a bag of wheat. This dance displays strength of women along with their will power.
