Mandava Dance of Gujarat

It is very famous amongst the Talavi community of Barodra. In this some of the dancers form a group and some can are seen climbing over the sholulders of their partners. The dance starts with the dhol beats. The dancers who are in the sitting position convert their position into standing and the dancers who are on top of their shoulders start moving the scarf’s in the air where as the other hand is occupied with the umbrella.

Similar kind of dance is performed by the tribals of Dang and the Thakurs of Kharavariya
